This is lake country. Between Freeman, Shafer, and the Tippecanoe River, half the point of owning a home around Monticello is being outside at it — and a deck or porch is where that happens.
This summer we framed a waterside porch enclosure right on the water: new stud walls, window openings placed for the view, and a roofline tied in clean. That's the kind of work we love — carpentry you live in. Whether it's a new deck, a screened porch that finally beats the mosquitoes, or a front porch rebuild that fixes what's sagging, we build square, solid, and to code.
Outdoor projects we build
- New deck construction — treated-lumber and composite decks, engineered footings to framing.
- Porch construction & rebuilds — front porches, back porches, and the columns, railings, and ceilings that finish them.
- Screened & enclosed porches — turn a deck or slab into a three-season room.
- Deck repairs & refresh — new decking and railings on sound frames, ledger and footing fixes on shaky ones.
- Stairs & railings — safe, code-compliant, and comfortable underfoot.
- Pergolas & outdoor structures — shade where you want it.
Built for Indiana weather
Freeze-thaw cycles, humid summers, and lake wind punish outdoor structures that were built casually. We size footings below frost line, flash ledgers correctly (the #1 cause of deck failure is a lazy ledger), use the right fasteners for treated lumber, and slope surfaces so water leaves instead of soaking in. It's the difference between a deck that lasts five years and one that hosts twenty summers.

Common questions
Composite or treated lumber?
Treated lumber costs less up front and takes stain; composite costs more but ends the sand-and-seal cycle forever. On lakefront jobs where sun and moisture are relentless, composite usually earns its price. We'll run both numbers in the estimate.
Do you handle permits for decks and porches?
Yes. Where a permit applies, we handle the paperwork and build to inspection. It protects your resale value and, on waterfront properties, keeps you right with setback rules.
